30 minute bread Rolls

I woke up this morning craving freshly baked bread rolls and so I took it upon myself to bake up a few for breakfast. GBBO, eat your heart out! There is nothing better than the smell of freshly baked bread filling the house, the best part is it's almost like a distant memory for me. Ever since I was little, I've been exposed to a lot home baking and I've always had homemade bread and cakes thanks to my mother and grandmother. I came across this recipe online and decided to try it. The best thing about this recipe is that these bread rolls do not require hours to prepare, just 30 minutes, the ingredients required do not break the bank and it makes a good portion enough to feed the whole family.

What you need:

  • 3 and a half cups all purpose flour
  • 1 cup warm water
  • ⅓ cup oil
  • 2 tablespoons active dry yeast
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoon warm water
  • 3½ cups flour

Method:

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. In the bowl of your stand mixer, combine the warm water, oil, yeast, and sugar. If you don't have a stand mixer, mix and knead by hand until dough is no longer sticky. Allow the mixture to rest for 15 minutes.
  3. Mix 2 cups of the flour, the salt, and the egg into the yeast mixture using a dough hook. Add the remaining 1½ cups flour ½ cup at a time.
  4. Shape dough into 12 balls and place in a 9x13 pan. Let dough rest for 10 minutes.
  5. Bake for 15 minutes or until tops are just golden brown.
