REASONS WHY I'VE CHANGED MY BLOG NAME

With time and new life experiences, directions change and new, maybe hidden interests blossom. Changing my blog's name has not been an easy decision. It was actually my blog's 4 year anniversary this month and I'm still amazed by how much its grown, what I've been able to experience and the new friends I've made along the way. There are readers that have grown with me and watched this blog transition into what it is today, for that I am grateful. I had always put a lot of time and effort into CrystalCosmicChic, all the posts I’d written for other blogs linked back there, all the magazine and online features linked back there but I have always felt that the name reflected very little about who I am and what the blog is really about. CrystalCosmicChic was well established and had a great standing in the online community but unfortunately the name just doesn't fit my post topics anymore. My three little monsters are sticking around as they represent every single person that has ever felt like they were different; think of them as a celebration of individuality.
I have a secret, a secret I'm finally going to share. Ever since I was 8, I've wanted to be a Registered Dietitian. This has been a dream of mine for a very long time as food and fitness have always been a big part of my life. There is also a very personal reason why this is my career of choice but I'll leave that for another day. I did keep it in the background for a while, after my family encouraged me to start sharing what I cook and bake, I've never looked back. I love cooking and baking, I'm intrigued by the science of food and I want to fully understand the chemical reactions that take place in the body. Some of you might not be aware of this but I am originally from Zimbabwe, a poverty stricken country where Human nutrition should be promoted a lot more. I've watched some of my friends back home suffer from malnutrition and I've just felt helpless.

I've watched a lot of people here in the UK suffer with eating disorders and the pressures to be thin. This is what the media portrays to be beautiful and a lot of young people today take body image to heart. Watching people hurt themselves frustrates me, it makes me want to help. I started to learn about basic nutrition in my spare time, you know portion sizes, RDAs of different foods, food label reading and the myth surrounding Carbs. I wish I had pursued Dietetics earlier on in life but I strongly believe that it's never too late to pursue something you love. I'm currently on a one year intensive course that will enable me to get onto a BSc Human Nutrition and Dietetics Undergraduate Degree in the near future. After a lot of deliberation, I've made the leap and changed my blog name.

So, goodbye CrystalCosmicChic. Welcome to Pocket-sized Cook.
Fashion blogging was my first love but Food has always been my greatest love.
