No matter how simple the ingredients you use are, a great bolognese sauce that is cooked right always taste great. This is one of the easiest and cheapest meals to make and it tastes wonderful; so comforting. That's to be expected because Carbohydrates make tryptophan more available to the brain.This classic dish is ready in less than an hour and makes a lovely comfort meal.
Preparation: 10 minutes Cooking: 37 minutes
What you need:
- 200g beef mince
- 1 tin chopped tomatoes
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 200ml beef stock
- 250g dried spaghetti
- salt and pepper
- chilli powder
- olive oil
Method:
Heat saucepan over medium heat and add tablespoon of olive oil.
When hot, add the mince and a pinch of salt, chilli powder and pepper. Cook mince until brown Transfer mince to bowl and set aside.
Add another tablespoon of oil to saucepan and set to medium heat. Add onions and a pinch of salt, fry gently for 5 minutes.
Add garlic and cook for another 2 minutes. Pour mince back into the saucepan.
Add tomatoes to the pan and stir well to mix. Pour in the stock, bring to a simmer and then reduce the temperature to simmer gently for 25 minutes, or until sauce is thick and rich.
Taste and adjust the seasoning as necessary.
To cook the spaghetti, heat a pot of water and add a pinch of salt. Cook according to packet instructions. Once the spaghetti is cooked through, drain.
Serve and enjoy!
